Guitar Lessons: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about lessons, ages, instruments, trial classes and more.
Do I need my own guitar to start?
Not on day one. You can use a school guitar for your free trial lesson. If you decide to continue, we'll help you pick a suitable instrument for your budget and age, so you don't end up buying the wrong one.
I'm a complete beginner. Is it too late to learn?
No. Our students include teenagers, working professionals and parents who picked up a guitar for the first time well into adulthood. Lessons are paced to you, and you'll play a simple song in your first few weeks.
How old does a child need to be to start guitar lessons?
We usually start children from around age 7, depending on hand size and focus. A smaller-scale guitar or ukulele-style start is possible for younger learners. The free trial lesson helps us decide together.
Do you offer online guitar lessons?
Yes. Live one-to-one lessons over video call, with the same teacher, curriculum and song-based approach as our classes in Gurugram. Students outside Gurugram are welcome too.
What does the free trial lesson include?
A relaxed 30-minute session: we meet, talk about the music you love, try a few first chords or notes, and map out a learning plan. There is no obligation to continue.
Can I learn my favourite songs?
Absolutely. We build lessons around songs you care about, whether that's Bollywood, indie, classic rock or pop, and teach the technique you need along the way.
How often should I take lessons?
Once a week works well for most students, with 15 to 20 minutes of practice on most days. Students who want faster progress can take two lessons a week.
Do you teach keyboard and piano as well?
Yes. Keyboard and piano lessons are available for beginners and improvers, in person at DLF Garden City or online.
